VGM – Verified Gross Mass
The International Maritime Organization (IMO) requires shippers to declare the gross weight of containers before they are loaded onto a vessel. This is to enhance the safety of the vessel and cargo, as well as the personnel involved in loading and unloading, and overall safety at sea.
