Samskip offers various types of containers for different transport needs and cargo types. We primarily use 20-foot and 40-foot dry containers, refrigerated and frozen containers, as well as flat racks.

We can also transport oversized cargo outside of containers when required.

Container Weight Limits

The Container Weight Limit table shows the permitted maximum container cargo gross weight (Cargo Gross MT) by country. We encourage customers to familiarize themselves thoroughly with the permitted container weight limits, as authorities in many countries take violations of this nature very seriously.

Empty Container Delivery

When returning empty containers after use, there are several important points to keep in mind.
Customers are asked to check the following:

Containers returned to Samskip must be empty and clean. All shipping equipment must also be returned, including lashing straps (ratchet straps), air bags, chains, and tarpaulins.
Drivers are not authorized to pick up containers that are not empty. Any additional driving costs resulting from this will be charged to the party ordering the container transport.
If containers are not empty or clean, additional charges will apply for cleaning and/or disposal of pallets or waste, in accordance with the price list.
If shipping equipment is not returned, additional charges will be applied to the customer for missing equipment, in accordance with the price list.
Open Top containers must be returned to Samskip with the tarpaulin and support bars properly installed.
Temperature-controlled containers must have the power cable properly secured and stored in the designated box on the refrigeration unit.

If damage occurs to Samskip containers while in the customer’s custody, the customer is responsible for the damage and must cover the associated costs.
Access to the containers must be adequate.
If containers are returned damaged, additional charges will be applied to the customer in accordance with the repair schedule.
If damage occurs to Samskip containers while in the customer’s custody, and/or to related equipment, this must be reported to the Samskip Container Management Department by email at: cdr@samskip.com or by phone at tel: +354 458-8483 or +354 458-8602.
If containers are not returned, additional charges will be applied to the customer in accordance with the container rental price list.
